RyboDyn Maps Hidden Human Proteome With AI Platform
RyboDyn said in a press release that it released a preprint titled "Discovery and Targeting of a Cryptic Human Proteome," describing proteins not captured in existing human proteome references. The San Diego biotechnology company used RyboCypher, its AI assisted proteogenomics platform, to identify cryptic proteins and cancer targets.
RyboDyn said RyboCypher resolved about 8.3 million dark RNA isoforms across cancer cell lines, patient tumors, and matched healthy tissue. More than 97% of those isoforms are absent from existing databases.
The company searched roughly half a billion mass spectra from 2,229 patient samples and confirmed about 80,000 cryptic peptides, including about 10,000 found often in cancer. RyboDyn used the data to create CypherAtlas, a database of dark RNAs, cryptic encoded proteins, and related patient data.
The preprint also describes cYBX1, a cryptic isoform of YBX1, a known cancer driver. RyboDyn said CypherAtlas expands the catalogued human proteome compared with recent catalogs from the TransCODE Consortium.
