RealityMine Reports Rising AI App Usage and Fragmented Mobile Behavior in the U.S.

May 07, 2026
RealityMine's Q1 2026 data shows that U.S. mobile users now spend nearly half of their total app time on five major platforms, while AI app adoption continues to grow rapidly, highlighting new challenges in cross-app measurement.

RealityMine announced in a press release that U.S. mobile behavior is becoming increasingly fragmented even as user attention remains concentrated in a few dominant platforms. The company's Q1 2026 data shows that 49 percent of all mobile time is spent within five apps: TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and Google Chrome. Expanding to the top 25 apps accounts for 69 percent of total time, down from 75 percent six months earlier.

The findings highlight what RealityMine calls an "Attention Paradox," where consumers rely on core platforms but increasingly explore a broader range of apps. The typical U.S. user now interacts with around 19 apps per day, engaging 90 to 200 times daily, with most sessions lasting less than 90 seconds. This trend reflects a shift toward shorter, more frequent interactions across a wider app ecosystem.

AI-focused applications are among the fastest-growing categories. ChatGPT increased its share of total time by 42 percent, with adoption rising from 20 percent of users in mid-2025 to 35 percent by March 2026. Other emerging AI platforms such as PolyBuzz and Character.AI also reported significant gains, with PolyBuzz entering the top 25 apps for the first time.

RealityMine noted that this diversification is creating new challenges for marketers and app owners, as more engagement occurs outside easily measurable environments. The company emphasized that verified behavioral data is becoming essential to understanding user activity across an expanding and increasingly AI-influenced mobile landscape.
