Pony.ai and ComfortDelGro to Deploy Autonomous Vehicles in Singapore
Pony.ai has announced its expansion into the Singapore market, partnering with ComfortDelGro to deploy autonomous vehicles. In a press release, the companies revealed plans to introduce autonomous mobility services in the Punggol area, with operations expected to commence in the coming months pending regulatory approval.
This initiative is part of Singapore's broader strategy to integrate autonomous vehicles into its public transport network, addressing driver shortages and enhancing connectivity. The collaboration builds on a Memorandum of Understanding signed in July 2024 and follows a successful pilot program in Guangzhou.
Pony.ai's CEO, Dr. James Peng, expressed enthusiasm for bringing their advanced autonomous driving technology to Singapore, while ComfortDelGro's CEO, Mr. Cheng Siak Kian, highlighted the partnership's potential to deliver innovative mobility solutions to local communities.
