PIER Group Launches Delta AI for Enhanced University Research

PIER Group has launched Delta AI, a high-performance AI system designed to enhance research capabilities at R1 and R2 universities across the United States. Announced in a press release, Delta AI is powered by NVIDIA GH200 Grace Hopper Superchips, which triple research speed and expand access to AI supercomputing.

Developed in collaboration with the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) at the University of Illinois and technology leaders like NVIDIA, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, and DataDirect Networks, Delta AI is an expansion of the existing Delta supercomputing system. Funded by the National Science Foundation, it aims to meet the growing demand for AI and machine learning research in academia.

Delta AI is already making significant impacts in various fields, including healthcare, agriculture, and public safety. It processes high-resolution imaging for early disease detection, enhances satellite data for sustainable farming, and aids emergency agencies in disaster response planning. Through the National AI Research Resource initiative, Delta AI is accessible to a wider network of academic and scientific institutions, fostering innovation in multiple disciplines.
