Orbotix Secures €6.5 Million to Enhance Autonomous Drone Systems
Warsaw-based defense tech startup Orbotix has secured €6.5 million in a strategic funding round to accelerate the development of its AI-powered autonomous drone systems. The investment was led by BVVC Fund, with participation from Gustav Söhne Verwaltung GmbH & Co. KG and Leryon Global Holdings.
Founded in 2023 by Bogdan Ochiana and Sebastian Straube, Orbotix focuses on AI-driven aerial defense technologies tailored for Europe's specific security needs and terrain. The company operates from its headquarters in Poland, with additional hubs in Romania, Spain, and Ukraine.
The newly acquired funds will be used to enhance AI capabilities, particularly in drone swarming technology, and to expand micromanufacturing capacity across the European Union. Orbotix aims to bolster Europe's technological and operational independence in defense, offering modular and scalable systems designed for sovereign use.
Orbotix's current product line includes the ATA System, an autonomous target acquisition platform for real-time threat detection and neutralization, and the Wasper-1, a drone swarm system designed to penetrate enemy defenses at lower costs than traditional systems. The company aligns its technology with EU regulations, including the EU AI Act, ensuring responsible deployment by defense forces, law enforcement, and critical infrastructure operators.
