OpenAI is in discussions with Reliance Industries, Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, and MGX to raise $40 billion, led by SoftBank, to support its AI infrastructure project Stargate.

OpenAI is reportedly in talks to raise $40 billion from a group of global investors, including Reliance Industries, Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, and UAE-based MGX, . The funding round is being led by SoftBank Group Corp. and aims to support OpenAI's ambitious model development and infrastructure project, Stargate.

Each investor is expected to contribute hundreds of millions of dollars, with OpenAI also engaging with other major backers like Coatue Management and Founders Fund. The company plans to secure an additional $17 billion by 2027. This funding effort is part of OpenAI's strategy to expand its investor base beyond Microsoft and Silicon Valley firms.

The funds will be used to advance OpenAI's AI infrastructure and model development, as the company continues to scale its operations to meet the growing demand for AI solutions globally. OpenAI's Stargate project is a significant part of this expansion, focusing on creating a network of AI data centers across the U.S.
