The Rhode Island Life Science Hub announced the foundational members of Ocean State Labs, the state's first life science incubator, set to open in early 2026.

The Rhode Island Life Science Hub, in collaboration with Governor Dan McKee, has announced the foundational members of Ocean State Labs, the state's first life science incubator. Announced in a press release, the incubator is set to officially open in the first quarter of 2026 and will be managed by Portal Innovations. This initiative aims to support and accelerate the growth of innovative companies in the life sciences sector.

Located in Providence's Innovation District, Ocean State Labs will provide over 30,000 square feet of office and lab space, hosting up to 30 startup companies. The incubator will serve as a hub for entrepreneurs, researchers, and investors, offering the infrastructure and community needed to transform breakthrough ideas into transformative solutions.

The foundational members of Ocean State Labs include companies such as MindImmune Therapeutics, OncoLux Inc., P53 Therapeutics, Pax Therapeutics, and XM Therapeutics. These companies represent a wide range of focus areas within the life sciences, from gene therapy and tissue regeneration to cancer therapeutics and surgical innovation.

The Rhode Island Life Science Hub is backed by an initial $45 million investment from the State of Rhode Island, aiming to build and support a high-impact portfolio of life science startups. By partnering with academic institutions, health systems, and industry leaders, the hub seeks to establish Rhode Island as a nationally recognized center for life science innovation.
