Nvidia Agrees to Buy Hugging Face for $12.9 Billion
Nvidia has agreed to buy Hugging Face for $12.9 billion after the AI startup was exploring a sale that could value it at about $13 billion, TechCrunch reports, citing The Information.
Business Insider said the talks had not produced a signed agreement and could still fall apart.
Hugging Face, founded in 2016, runs a hub where developers share and download open source AI models. The company raised $235 million in 2023 at a $4.5 billion valuation, with investors including Salesforce Ventures, GV, IBM Ventures, and Nvidia.
Hugging Face also helps developers run AI models using rented computing power. The company was recently generating about $150 million in annual revenue, up from about $100 million two months earlier.
