Ninenovo Publishes Wearable Ring Study on Bilateral Cardiovascular Monitoring
Ninenovo, parent company of RingConn, announced in a press release that a joint team with Professor Cheng Chen's group at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Mianyang Central Hospital published a study in npj Digital Medicine on bilateral cardiovascular monitoring with wearable rings.
The study analyzed 97,559 valid ring PPG samples from 1,810 participants and included 7,478 paired blood pressure measurements. It examined synchronized photoplethysmography signals from both hands to test whether left and right hand measurements can be treated as interchangeable in wearable monitoring.
Researchers found that synchronized signals from both hands reduced heart rate mean absolute error from 10.65 beats per minute at the population baseline to 3.21 beats per minute. When signal differences stayed below defined thresholds, error fell to 2.59 beats per minute. The heart rate result was consistent across 12 AI model architectures.
Blood pressure results were smaller. Systolic mean absolute error improved from 13.81 to 12.36 millimeters of mercury, and diastolic error improved from 9.27 to 8.21 millimeters of mercury. The study also reported that differences between the two hands may help indicate measurement reliability.
