Nauticus Robotics Achieves Deepwater Milestone with Subnero Modems
Nauticus Robotics has announced successful test results for its Aquanaut vehicle using Subnero modems, achieving continuous subsea communication at depths of 2300 meters. This milestone was announced in a press release, highlighting the performance of Subnero's modems in ultra-deepwater conditions.
The tests, conducted in the Gulf of Mexico, involved lowering a Subnero surface modem to two meters below the sea surface, maintaining a reliable communication link with the Aquanaut vehicle as it descended. This achievement not only marks the deepest operation of a Subnero modem but also confirms its capability to support autonomous underwater operations.
Nauticus plans to continue testing the Aquanaut vehicle down to its designed operational depth of 3000 meters, which is sufficient to cover 90% of offshore oil and gas fields globally. John Gibson, President and CEO of Nauticus Robotics, emphasized the importance of reliable underwater communication for expanding autonomous operations worldwide. Manu Ignatius, CEO of Subnero, expressed pride in the modems' performance, reinforcing their mission to provide effective underwater communication solutions.
