MPLX and MARA Partner on Gas-Powered Data Center Campuses in West Texas

November 04, 2025
MPLX LP and MARA Holdings have signed a letter of intent to collaborate on integrated power generation and data center campuses in West Texas, with initial power capacity of 400 MW and potential expansion to 1.5 GW.

MPLX LP and MARA Holdings, Inc. have signed a letter of intent to develop integrated power generation and data center campuses in West Texas, announced in a press release. MPLX will supply natural gas from its Delaware basin processing plants to MARA’s planned gas-fired power facilities, which will provide electricity for both MARA’s data centers and MPLX’s regional operations.

The first phase of the project is expected to deliver 400 megawatts of generation capacity, with potential expansion to 1.5 gigawatts. MARA will own and operate the power plants and data centers, while MPLX will provide natural gas and receive electricity under a tolling agreement.

The facilities will be located near MPLX’s gas processing infrastructure across the Delaware basin. The collaboration aims to enhance energy reliability for MPLX’s producer-customers and enable MARA to support high-performance computing workloads, including future artificial intelligence and high-performance computing operations.
