Mozilla to Add Optional AI Features to Firefox Under New CEO
Anthony Enzor-DeMeo has been appointed CEO of Mozilla, succeeding interim CEO Laura Chambers. In a blog post on Mozilla’s website, Enzor-DeMeo said the company will introduce AI features to Firefox but emphasized that these capabilities will remain optional for users.
Enzor-DeMeo stated that every Mozilla product will provide users with clear control over privacy, data use, and AI functions. He noted that AI should always be something people can turn off and should operate transparently. The company plans to evolve Firefox into a modern AI browser while maintaining its focus on user trust.
Mozilla will also pursue new revenue sources beyond its search partnership with Google. Enzor-DeMeo said the strategy includes building a broader ecosystem of trusted software around Firefox, supported by products such as its VPN, Thunderbird email client, and AI-powered website creator.
Before becoming CEO, Enzor-DeMeo served as general manager of Firefox, overseeing product development and strategy.
