Moonvalley Secures $84M to Expand Ethical AI Video Production

Moonvalley has raised $84 million to enhance its AI video production tools, focusing on ethical and licensed content for Hollywood and enterprise clients.

Moonvalley has raised $84 million in a new funding round to advance its AI video production capabilities. The funding was led by General Catalyst, with participation from Creative Artists Agency, Comcast Ventures, and other investors. This brings the company's total funding to $154 million.

Moonvalley focuses on developing AI video tools that respect intellectual property rights, distinguishing itself from competitors facing legal challenges over unlicensed content. The company's AI model, Marey, is trained exclusively on licensed material and is designed for professional filmmakers and brands.

The new capital will be used to scale operations, expand the licensed content library, and develop features requested by studios and enterprise clients. Moonvalley collaborates with its in-house production studio, Asteria, to ensure its tools meet the needs of the film industry.

The company aims to provide a legally compliant alternative to unlicensed AI models, with support from partners like CoreWeave, which supplies the necessary compute resources for training and deploying Moonvalley's models.
