Meta Plans Free AI Glasses for Blind US Veterans
Meta will provide free Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses to legally blind US veterans, Lighthouse Guild said in a press release. More than 130,000 veterans are eligible, though the announcement did not specify a distribution schedule.
Meta and Lighthouse Guild also sponsored eight runners in the Army Ten-Miler in Washington, DC, on October 11. The team included three blind Army veterans and Lighthouse Guild President and CEO Thomas Panek.
Each blind runner received Oakley Meta Vanguard AI glasses and ran with a human guide from Achilles International. The glasses can read documents, describe surroundings, help users navigate and provide access to information.

The paper reports simulation-based performance, cost, and accuracy-validation results, including Tensordyne’s projected comparison of one Napier rack with a nine-rack Nvidia Rubin plus Groq deployment; the chip is reported as taped out and in fabrication.
