Leanpath has launched Snap AI, a mobile food waste tracking platform designed for off-site events and remote catering locations, announced in a press release. The system extends food waste monitoring beyond the kitchen by allowing staff to record uneaten food directly at the point of service.

Snap AI uses computer vision to identify food types and estimate weight from images captured with a tablet, removing the need for scales or manual data entry. Each entry is linked to a specific event, producing itemized, timestamped, and AI verified data suitable for sustainability reporting.

The workflow requires minimal setup: users enter an event name and photograph each dish. Leanpath reports that its users typically achieve a 50 percent reduction in food waste and up to 6 percent lower purchasing costs. Snap AI is available globally and can be deployed immediately.
