JLT Mobile Computers and Linnaeus University Develop AI Safety Solution for Vehicles
JLT Mobile Computers and Linnaeus University have partnered to develop an AI-powered solution aimed at improving safety in industrial settings, announced in a press release. The collaboration has resulted in the creation of Screen Blanking, an innovative application that uses AI and machine learning to automatically blank the display of vehicle-mounted computers when the vehicle is in motion, restoring it when the vehicle stops.
This solution addresses legal requirements in certain regions and enhances operational safety in environments such as warehouses and logistics hubs. By utilizing built-in motion sensors from JLT's JLT6012 computers, the team collected real-world movement data, which Linnaeus University researchers used to develop a highly optimized AI model. This model detects vehicle motion with minimal CPU usage while maintaining high accuracy.
The Screen Blanking application has successfully passed internal testing and is now entering pilot trials with customers in live forklift operations. This phase aims to validate its performance in real-world industrial environments, ensuring compliance and safety objectives are met.
