Oct 2, 2026
The Ferry Man film series surpassed RMB 8 million in cumulative revenue sharing as its third installment premiered on October 1.

iQIYI said in a press release that its AI generated film series The Ferry Man surpassed RMB 8 million, or about $1.2 million, in cumulative revenue sharing as of September 23. The third installment, The Ferry Man: The Dream of the Princess, premiered on iQIYI and iQIYI International on October 1.

The first two films premiered on August 22 and recovered their full production costs within one week. Production partner GHY Culture & Media shares earnings with iQIYI based on viewership.

iQIYI used AI to create visual assets for concept designs, sets, props and other elements. The three lead actors licensed their likenesses and recorded their own voices, while the production created reusable digital characters, scenes and props. The first two films went from project initiation to release in less than four months.
