IBM Introduces Network Intelligence AI Solution
IBM has unveiled IBM Network Intelligence, a new AI solution aimed at tackling the growing complexity of telecommunications and enterprise networks. Developed in collaboration with IBM Research, this network-native AI solution is designed to transform network operations by integrating advanced time-series foundation models with large language model (LLM)-powered reasoning agents.
IBM Network Intelligence addresses the challenges posed by fragmented network data across various domains, vendors, and formats. The solution combines analytical AI, which processes vast amounts of network data, with reasoning AI that understands data relationships and hypothesizes potential issues. This dual approach aims to enhance collaboration between human operators and AI agents, enabling more efficient network management.
The analytical AI capabilities are supported by IBM Granite Time Series Foundation Models, which are pre-trained on high-volume telemetry and flow data. These models provide deep contextual understanding of network behavior, allowing for more accurate observations and early warnings of potential issues.
The reasoning AI component, powered by IBM watsonx technologies, adds contextual reasoning and automation. It assists in detecting issues, identifying probable causes, and generating remediation plans, all while maintaining human-in-the-loop control for explainability. This approach is intended to replace manual processes with a continuous, explainable system that surfaces high-confidence, actionable insights.
IBM Network Intelligence aims to expand the human-AI partnership model into the design and build phases of the network lifecycle, ultimately enabling continuous network evolution and improved resilience.
