HIGEN RNM Unveils Humanoid Robot Actuator Platform

HIGEN RNM introduced its Human-Friendly Actuator Platform, a set of six standardized robotic joint actuators for humanoid robots and Physical AI systems.

HIGEN RNM unveiled its Human-Friendly Actuator Platform for humanoid robots and Physical AI systems, the company announced in a press release. The platform includes six standardized actuator designs for joints such as wrists, necks, knees, and hips, with torque ratings from 60 Nm to 348 Nm.

The actuator architecture combines motors, gear systems, sensing, and drive electronics in each joint. HIGEN RNM says each joint can detect unexpected disturbances and adjust force and stiffness locally in under 100 milliseconds, without relying only on a central controller.

The company said the design uses an AFPM motor, a 3K compound planetary gearbox, dual encoders, and embedded drive electronics. It also uses dual encoder data and motor current sensing to estimate external forces without a dedicated joint torque sensor.

HIGEN RNM has filed three Korean patent applications related to sensing and adaptive force control technologies. The company said it is pursuing CE and UL certification and plans to show the platform, performance data, and application demonstrations at CES 2027 in Las Vegas.
