Google Expands Gemini AI Capabilities on Android with Task Automation and Scam Detection

Google has expanded its Gemini by Google AI features on Android to include automation for multi-step tasks. The new functionality allows users to delegate actions such as ordering food, booking rides, or managing grocery lists directly through voice or text commands. The feature is launching in beta on select devices, including the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Samsung Galaxy S26 series, and will initially be available in the U.S. and Korea.

The automations operate within a secure virtual environment that limits app access and allows users to monitor progress in real time. Tasks can be paused or stopped if needed, giving users full control while Gemini executes actions in supported apps across food, grocery, and rideshare categories.

In addition to automation, Google is expanding its on-device Scam Detection feature. The protection, already available on Pixel devices, is now being extended to Galaxy S26 phones in the U.S., with plans to add support in other regions. The system analyzes calls locally on the device and alerts users through audio and haptic signals if a potential scam is detected.

The company is also enhancing its Circle to Search feature, which can now recognize multiple objects on screen simultaneously. This update enables users to identify and search for all visible items, such as clothing or accessories, with a single gesture. These improvements reflect Google’s ongoing effort to integrate Gemini AI more deeply into the Android ecosystem.
