Google Cloud Adds NVIDIA Vera Rubin A5X Instances
Google Cloud detailed in a company blog post new A5X bare metal instances based on the NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72 platform. General availability will begin in November, with local regions supporting data residency and sovereignty requirements in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
A5X will use Google's Virgo Network, which can connect up to 80,000 Rubin GPUs at one site and 960,000 GPUs across multiple sites. The instances will also support Managed Lustre with NVIDIA GPUDirect Storage, KV caching for long context workloads and orchestration through Google Kubernetes Engine.
Google Cloud also expanded its sovereign AI and confidential computing options. NVIDIA HGX B300 systems are now generally available on Google Distributed Cloud, while Gemini 3.5 Flash and enterprise search can run inside air gapped environments. Confidential G4 instances are generally available, and Google is introducing Confidential Bare Metal through A4X Max instances based on NVIDIA GB300 NVL72 systems.
