Google's AI Coding Agent Jules Exits Beta
Google has launched its AI coding agent, Jules, out of beta, powered by Gemini 2.5 Pro. The tool, which integrates with GitHub, clones codebases into Google Cloud virtual machines, and uses AI to fix or update code, is now available to the public. This follows its public preview debut in May, where it was initially introduced as a Google Labs project in December. announced on their website, Jules has received numerous updates based on user feedback, including UI improvements and new capabilities like multimodal support.
With the official rollout, Google has introduced structured pricing tiers for Jules. The introductory access plan is free, allowing up to 15 individual daily tasks and three concurrent ones. Paid tiers, part of the Google AI Pro and Ultra plans, offer higher task limits at $19.99 and $124.99 per month, respectively. These tiers are designed based on real usage insights gathered during the beta phase.
Additionally, Google has updated Jules' privacy policy to clarify data usage for AI training. Public repositories may be used for training, while private ones remain untouched. The tool's asynchronous operation in virtual machines distinguishes it from other AI coding tools, allowing developers to delegate tasks without needing to monitor the process continuously.
