Georgia Tech Gets $1.5 Million Grant for AI Assistive Technology Platform
Georgia Tech researchers received a three year, $1.5 million grant to expand an AI assisted platform for older adults, the university said in an announcement. The National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research awarded the funding.
The ACCESS for Aging Well with Assistive Technology 2.0 project will combine an existing website and assistive technology catalog in one platform. It will use machine learning, predictive analytics, expert input, and data from state assistive technology programs to provide assessments and recommendations.
The project will also add discussion forums, product reviews, informational articles, and social media resources. Researchers plan to analyze community discussions with AI tools to refine recommendations and identify how people use assistive technology. The team will work with senior centers, rehabilitation centers, and state aging agencies to expand access.
