First Student Named to TIME100 Most Influential Companies for AI-Based HALO Platform
First Student announced in a press release that it has been included in the TIME100 Most Influential Companies 2026 list in the Transportation category. The recognition highlights the company's role in transforming student transportation through its proprietary HALO platform, which uses AI, predictive analytics, and real time data to improve safety and operational performance.
The HALO platform connects dispatching, routing, vehicle tracking, safety insights, and maintenance across a fleet of more than 48,000 vehicles serving about 4.8 million student journeys daily. In pilot programs, HALO-enabled safety tools reduced inattentive driving events by 81 percent, forward collision rates by 63 percent, and rolling stops by 54 percent.
The platform also improved workforce outcomes, including a 115 percent increase in driver interview completion rates and a 38 percent reduction in training time. Through a partnership with Samsara, HALO incorporates AI cameras, analytics, and predictive safety features to enhance visibility and reliability for schools and families.
HALO provides real time tracking for parents through the First View app, offering transparency and communication. The system is designed to unify operations across school districts, drivers, and parents, supporting safer and more efficient transportation at scale.
