EPRI and Microsoft Collaborate on AI Solutions for Energy Sector
EPRI has announced a collaboration with Microsoft Corporation to develop and deploy AI solutions in the energy sector, announced in a press release. This partnership, revealed at DISTRIBUTECH 2025, aims to enhance grid reliability, improve workforce safety, and advance forecasting and planning models.
As part of the Open Power AI Consortium, EPRI and Microsoft will work with global energy companies to implement AI-powered outcomes and best practices. The consortium, which includes over 30 energy companies, seeks to innovate how electricity is produced, distributed, and consumed by creating a sandbox environment for AI application development.
EPRI President and CEO Arshad Mansoor emphasized the transformative potential of AI in the power sector, while Microsoft's Darryl Willis highlighted the collaboration's role in advancing a more resilient and efficient energy system. The partnership underscores a commitment to a secure and sustainable energy future.
