Dream Labs Raises $90 Million and Opens Robot Control API
Dream Labs raised $90 million in seed funding led by B Capital and Kindred Ventures, the company said in a press release. The company also launched Dream API, which converts a robot camera feed and a text instruction into motor commands.
Dream API uses the company’s Dream-1 model, which was trained on videos of people performing everyday tasks. Dream Labs says the model can control robots with grippers from different manufacturers without training data for each machine.
The company currently supports robots from more than 20 hardware partners, with prices ranging from about $2,000 to $10,000. Dream-1 handles tabletop tasks including moving objects and folding laundry. Dream Labs plans to use most of the funding for computing capacity as it adds tasks, supports more robots, and expands access.
