DeepRoute.ai to Launch Robotaxi Service Using Production Vehicles by End of 2025
Chinese autonomous driving company DeepRoute.ai plans to launch robotaxi operations using consumer-grade production vehicles by the end of 2025, announced in a press release. The company said the initiative will use the same production platform that powers about 150,000 vehicles currently equipped with its assisted driving systems in China, with that number expected to exceed 200,000 by year-end.
DeepRoute.ai’s approach integrates autonomous driving systems directly into vehicles during manufacturing, removing the need for costly retrofitting. Its map-free navigation system also eliminates expenses related to high-definition maps and their maintenance. This combination is designed to support faster expansion into new cities without extended mapping preparation.
Backed by more than $500 million from investors including Alibaba Group and Great Wall Motor, the company aims to make autonomous ride-hailing more accessible and cost-efficient. DeepRoute.ai is also establishing a European presence to support localization efforts and partnerships in markets such as Europe, Japan, and South Korea, where demand for autonomous mobility is growing.
