DCAI Integrates WEKA Storage to Expand Sovereign AI Infrastructure in Europe
Danish Centre for AI Innovation and WEKA have launched an integrated AI infrastructure that combines compute and storage into a single encrypted platform, announced in a press release. The system, operated through DCAI’s Gefion supercomputer, delivers hyperscaler-grade performance while maintaining full EU data sovereignty.
The new platform adds 140 petabytes of storage capacity, including 80 PB of NVMe SSDs powered by WEKA’s NeuralMesh software. This integration enables sub-millisecond latency for AI training and inference, removing data bottlenecks and improving GPU utilization. Users can now manage data ingestion, model training, and deployment entirely within DCAI’s infrastructure.
Built for research, enterprise, and government workloads, the architecture supports secure multi-tenant orchestration and compliance with EU data sovereignty mandates. DCAI’s single-tier, software-defined design also reduces energy use and infrastructure complexity compared to traditional multi-tier systems.
The service is currently available to select customers, with wider access planned for early 2026. Future updates will incorporate WEKA’s Augmented Memory Grid technology to further enhance large language model performance.
