Databricks Unveils Genie Code and Acquires Quotient AI

March 12, 2026
Databricks has introduced Genie Code, an AI-driven system for automating data engineering and analytics workflows, and announced the acquisition of Quotient AI to enhance continuous evaluation of AI agents.

Databricks has launched Genie Code, a new AI system designed to automate data engineering, data science, and analytics tasks, announced in a press release. The company also confirmed its acquisition of Quotient AI, a startup specializing in evaluation and reinforcement learning for AI agents.

Genie Code enables data teams to convert ideas into autonomous production systems capable of building pipelines, debugging errors, and maintaining production workflows. Integrated with Databricks' Unity Catalog, it enforces governance policies and uses enterprise context to ensure accuracy and compliance. According to Databricks, Genie Code achieved a 77.1% success rate on real-world data science tasks, more than doubling the performance of leading coding agents.

The system acts as a machine learning engineer, handling end-to-end model workflows, monitoring pipelines, and optimizing resources automatically. It also includes persistent memory, allowing it to improve based on prior interactions. Early adopters such as SiriusXM and Repsol have used Genie Code to accelerate analytics and model deployment.

Through the acquisition of Quotient AI, Databricks is embedding continuous evaluation into Genie and Genie Code. Quotient’s technology monitors agent performance, detects regressions, and supports reinforcement learning loops to improve reliability and quality in production environments.
