Boom Technologies Launches PHOTON AI Data Center Initiative in Africa
Boom Technologies Ltd has announced PHOTON, a pan-African initiative to establish decentralized, gigawatt-scale AI data centers across the continent, announced in a press release. This initiative aims to democratize access to advanced AI infrastructure, enabling African businesses, startups, and institutions to leverage AI technologies that reflect Africa's unique history, values, and languages.
PHOTON's mission includes creating millions of jobs and positioning Africa as a leader in Generative AI. Boom is inviting African governments to submit a Request for Expression of Interest (RFEI) to host the initial seven AI data centers. Eligible countries must secure their Sovereign Reserve Allocation of Boomcoin (BMC), offer attractive investment incentives, and ensure a stable power supply.
The initiative is powered by open-source technologies and energy-efficient designs, offering ultra-low-cost API access payable in local currencies or BMC. This effort is part of Boom's vision to empower Africa with AI capabilities that advance the continent's narratives and interests.
