Bolei Zhou Joins Coco Robotics as Chief AI Scientist
Coco Robotics has appointed Bolei Zhou, a leading AI researcher and UCLA professor, as Chief AI Scientist, announced in a press release. Zhou will lead the company's newly established Physical AI Lab, which will use data from thousands of delivery robots to advance autonomous navigation and adaptability in complex urban environments.
The lab will focus on converting real-world data—collected from millions of miles of deliveries—into improvements across Coco’s fleet. Engineers and researchers under Zhou’s direction will develop systems that allow robots to adjust to diverse city layouts, traffic conditions, and infrastructure.
Zhou, recognized for his work in simulation and embodied AI, has over 60,000 academic citations and has contributed to major AI conferences including NeurIPS, ICCV, and CVPR. His leadership is expected to accelerate the deployment of research-driven innovations across Coco’s growing fleet.
Coco Robotics stated that it plans to expand its fleet to more than 10,000 robots by 2026. The company has completed over 500,000 zero-emission deliveries across the U.S. and Europe.
