Autonomous Solutions Enters Heavy Construction with SoftBank
Autonomous Solutions, Inc. has launched a new business unit, ASI Construction, in collaboration with SoftBank Group. This initiative aims to automate construction equipment using ASI's Mobius autonomous fleet management system. The new unit will operate a fleet of autonomous vehicles for a U.S.-based project, addressing the growing demand for construction and the decreasing labor supply.
ASI has a history of over 25 years in construction product development, working with industry leaders like John Deere and CNH. The launch of ASI Construction follows ASI's strategic divestment from mining, allowing the company to focus on expanding its presence in off-road markets such as logistics and agriculture. ASI CEO Mel Torrie emphasized the importance of automation in low-population areas to meet the increasing demands of heavy construction projects.
The company plans to leverage its industry-leading autonomy stack, which has been refined through years of real-world deployments in sectors like mining and agriculture, to serve the construction market effectively. This move marks a significant expansion for ASI into the heavy construction industry.
