Augment Code Introduces Remote Agent for Cloud-Based Development
Augment Code has introduced Remote Agent, a new cloud-based tool designed to assist developers in managing small tasks and clearing backlogs. Remote Agent operates in the cloud, allowing developers to parallelize tasks and review completed work before committing changes. This tool is now available in VS Code.
Remote Agent provides developers with the ability to handle tasks such as eliminating flaky tests, updating documentation, refactoring code, and addressing bug backlogs. It also supports bulk operations like migrating configurations or formatting entire repositories without interrupting the developer's workflow.
The tool is designed to function as an 'army of eager interns,' where tasks are kept small, well-scoped, and specific. Developers are encouraged to review pull requests thoroughly, as the agents are not infallible. Remote Agent is currently being rolled out in waves, and interested users can join the waitlist for access.
