The American Society of Gene & Cell Therapy and Orphan Therapeutics Accelerator have launched CGTxchange, an AI-enhanced marketplace designed to reactivate promising but shelved cell and gene therapy programs. The platform is live with pilot assets and now accepting applications from sponsors.

The American Society of Gene & Cell Therapy and Orphan Therapeutics Accelerator have announced in a press release the launch of CGTxchange, an AI enhanced clearinghouse and marketplace designed to reactivate shelved cell and gene therapy programs that have strong scientific or clinical foundations.

CGTxchange is a joint venture between ASGCT and OTXL and is now live with initial pilot assets onboarded. The platform was demonstrated during the ASGCT 2026 Annual Meeting in Boston by ASGCT President Dr. Terry Flotte and OTXL CEO Craig Martin. Applications are open this month for sponsors wishing to list shelved programs.

The marketplace serves as a structured system where shelved assets can be discovered by funders, sponsors, and partners seeking to advance scientifically validated programs through alternative development and financing models. Early pilot partners helped refine the asset listing workflow and the AI enabled diligence package now available to approved users.

Following the annual meeting, the platform will open more broadly for listings from academic institutions, biotech companies, non profit developers, and other holders of shelved programs. Up to ten initial listings will receive discounted onboarding as part of the initial rollout.
