Applied Optoelectronics sold about 5.7 million shares through an at the market offering, generating $588 million after commissions and fees.

Applied Optoelectronics completed its previously disclosed $600 million at the market equity offering program, the company announced in a press release. It sold 5,694,845 shares at an average price of $105.36 per share, generating about $588 million after commissions and fees.

The optical networking equipment maker plans to use the proceeds for general corporate purposes, including debt repayment, working capital and capital spending. Its planned investments include equipment and machinery for production, research and expanded manufacturing of optical devices for data centers.
