Anthropic Adds Voice Mode to Claude Code for Hands-Free Coding
Anthropic has begun rolling out a new voice mode for Claude Code, its AI assistant designed for software developers. The feature enables hands-free interactions by allowing users to issue spoken commands directly to the coding assistant.
The voice mode is currently available to around 5% of users, with a wider release planned in the coming weeks. Developers can activate the feature by typing the command `/voice`, after which they can speak instructions such as refactoring or modifying code components. The system then executes the spoken requests.
It has not been confirmed whether the feature has technical limits or if it relies on third-party voice technology. This update follows Anthropic’s earlier introduction of voice capabilities for its general-purpose Claude chatbot in 2025.
Anthropic reported strong growth for Claude Code earlier this year, with run-rate revenue surpassing $2.5 billion and weekly active users doubling since January.
