American Infrastructure Alliance Forms Data Center Standards Coalition

The American Infrastructure Alliance brings labor groups, technology companies, investors and data center operators together to advocate for state and local standards covering energy costs, water use, jobs and community benefits.

American Infrastructure Alliance launched a nationwide labor and business coalition focused on data center standards, according to a press release from the group. Its members include OpenAI, SoftBank, CoreWeave, Blackstone, Digital Realty, QTS and several construction trade unions.

The coalition will advocate for standards that require data center developers and operators to cover necessary energy and infrastructure costs, protect water resources and support local jobs. It also wants projects to provide funding or other benefits for schools, roads, public infrastructure and local institutions.

Initial operations will cover Texas, Georgia, Ohio, Iowa, Pennsylvania, Indiana and South Carolina. The group plans to release policy principles and work with state and local officials ahead of and during the 2027 state legislative sessions.
