Alliance for Policy Research Launches AI Assisted Think Tank Model
The Alliance for Policy Research has officially launched as a non-profit organization focused on maintaining the United States' leadership in science and technology. The launch was announced in a press release, outlining a new model that combines human expertise with artificial intelligence to produce fast, cost-effective research for policy decisions.
Based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the organization was formed in response to deep cuts in federal research funding that began in early 2025. These cuts have led to widespread layoffs across major U.S. research institutions. APR aims to provide evidence-based analysis through a collaborative network of scientists and policy experts.
The group operates as a human-centered think tank that uses AI tools to speed up analysis while keeping human oversight central to its process. It maintains a human-in-the-loop approach to ensure ethical and accurate outcomes. Alongside its research arm, APR will also run an advisory practice that works with government bodies, private companies, and community organizations.
The organization plans to begin a fundraising campaign in June 2026 to support the creation of new datasets and urgent studies no longer covered by federal grants. APR’s focus areas include public health preparedness, national security, climate and environmental policy, and economic development.
