ACROBiosystems Showcases AI Protein Engineering at Zurich Innovation Day

May 19, 2026
ACROBiosystems held its Innovation Day in Zurich, where experts discussed advances in biologics development and translational science. The company presented its AI platform for protein engineering, featuring examples of optimized cytokines and antibodies.

On May 18, 2026, ACROBiosystems hosted its Innovation Day at Superlab Suisse in Zurich, bringing together scientists and industry professionals to explore advances in biologics development and translational research, according to a press release.

The event featured presentations from experts across academia and industry, including representatives from Wyss Zurich, Limula, and INOFEA. Discussions focused on emerging technologies, regulatory landscapes, and strategies to accelerate the transition from discovery to clinical application.

Lili Qin, vice president of R&D at ACROBiosystems, presented on AI applications in protein engineering for cell and gene therapy. She described how the company uses AI across the protein development process, from structure prediction and design to purification and formulation optimization. Examples included an AI optimized cytokine with a twentyfold increase in expression yield, a thermostable FGF2 mutant, and a highly specific antibody targeting Claudin18.2.

The company’s proprietary AI platform integrates computational predictions with high throughput experimental validation in a closed loop system. This approach addresses common challenges such as low expression levels, thermal instability, and specificity issues, helping to shorten development timelines and improve success rates in biologics manufacturing.

The event also featured presentations from translational research leaders. Jenny Ann Prange of Wyss Zurich discussed how her team bridges early discovery and regulated manufacturing through funding and infrastructure support for promising therapeutic projects.
