Meta to Launch Standalone AI App in 2025

Meta plans to release a standalone AI app in the second quarter of 2025, aiming to compete with OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Gemini.

Meta is set to launch a standalone AI app in the second quarter of 2025, according to The Verge. This move is part of CEO Mark Zuckerberg's strategy to position Meta as a leader in artificial intelligence by the end of the year, competing directly with OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Gemini.

The new app will allow users to interact with Meta AI outside of its existing platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. This strategic shift aims to enhance user engagement and potentially open new revenue streams through a paid subscription service, similar to OpenAI's ChatGPT Plus.

Meta AI, which launched in September 2023, has already integrated into Meta's family of apps, replacing traditional search functions. With over 700 million active monthly users, the standalone app is expected to further expand its reach and functionality, offering features like image generation and personalized recommendations.
