Google Introduces Googlebook Laptops Built for Gemini Intelligence
Google has announced Googlebook, a new category of laptops built specifically for Gemini Intelligence. The devices combine the capabilities of Android and ChromeOS to create a system that integrates Gemini’s AI features directly into the user experience. The company described Googlebook as a rethinking of the laptop, moving from a focus on operating systems to what it calls an intelligence system.
Among the new features is Magic Pointer, developed with the Google DeepMind team. This tool allows users to interact with on-screen content through contextual suggestions. For example, pointing at a date in an email can prompt a meeting setup, or selecting two images can generate a visual comparison. Another feature, Create My Widget, enables users to build custom desktop widgets by prompting Gemini, which can connect to Gmail, Calendar, and other apps to organize information in one place.
Googlebook laptops are designed to work seamlessly with Android phones. Features such as Quick Access allow users to browse phone files directly from the laptop, while Cast My Apps lets them open and use phone applications on the larger screen without separate installations.
The first Googlebook models are being developed with partners including Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, and Lenovo. Each device will feature premium materials and a distinctive glowbar design element. Google stated that the first wave of Googlebooks will be available in fall 2026.
