Flex has announced a strategic collaboration with Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to advance the future of manufacturing using artificial intelligence and automation, announced in a press release. As a founding member of MIT's Initiative for New Manufacturing (INM), Flex will work with MIT researchers and industry leaders to tackle manufacturing and supply chain challenges.
The collaboration will focus on projects aimed at enhancing supply chain resiliency, improving manufacturing efficiency, and creating advanced manufacturing jobs. MIT graduate and PhD students will engage in these projects, applying AI and automation to develop innovative solutions.
Flex will also host MIT faculty and students at its Sorocaba, Brazil site, providing hands-on experience through the MIT "factory observatory" program. This initiative is part of a broader effort to reimagine industrial production and strengthen U.S. manufacturing competitiveness.
