ECAM Highlights Live Video Monitoring as Cargo Theft Losses Reach $725 Million

June 18, 2026
ECAM emphasized the role of AI detection and live video monitoring in reducing cargo theft, as industry losses in the United States and Canada reached $725 million in 2025, a 60 percent increase from the previous year.

ECAM announced in a press release that live video monitoring and AI detection are becoming essential tools for transportation and logistics operators responding to rising cargo theft. Industry research indicates that theft losses across the United States and Canada reached nearly 725 million dollars in 2025, representing a 60 percent increase from 2024. Confirmed incidents rose 18 percent, and the average value per theft climbed to 273,990 dollars.

ECAM stated that traditional camera systems often record incidents but do not prevent them, while 24-hour on-site guard coverage can be resource intensive. The company combines AI detection with live monitoring specialists to provide real time visibility across logistics yards, distribution centers, and warehouse perimeters. When suspicious activity is detected, operators can verify the threat, issue live audio warnings, and alert law enforcement before losses occur.

According to ECAM, a multinational logistics company working with its systems reported more than 10.7 million dollars in documented savings after deploying live video monitoring, gate management, and mobile surveillance units. The integration allowed the company to replace fragmented site-level coverage with centralized monitoring and improve operational visibility across multiple facilities.

ECAM, headquartered in Dallas and part of GardaWorld, operates the largest network of monitored cameras in North America and develops its own surveillance technologies to address security challenges in logistics and distribution environments.
