Amazon Tests AI Smart Glasses for Delivery Drivers

October 23, 2025
Amazon is developing AI-powered smart glasses for its delivery drivers, featuring real-time navigation, hazard detection, and package scanning capabilities to reduce phone reliance during deliveries.

Amazon is developing AI-powered smart glasses for its delivery drivers, announced on its website. The wearable technology aims to improve navigation, safety, and efficiency for Delivery Associates (DAs) by providing hands-free access to delivery information.

The glasses use computer vision and AI sensing to display navigation guidance, hazard alerts, and delivery details directly in the driver’s field of view. When drivers park at a delivery location, the system activates automatically, helping them locate packages and navigate to customer doorsteps without needing to check their phones.

Designed based on feedback from hundreds of drivers, the glasses include a small controller integrated into the delivery vest, a swappable battery for all-day use, and an emergency button for contacting services if needed. They also support prescription and adaptive lenses for comfort and visibility.

The company plans to expand the glasses' capabilities to include real-time defect detection and environmental awareness, such as recognizing incorrect deliveries or detecting low-light conditions. The project builds on Amazon’s broader efforts to integrate AI and computer vision into its last-mile delivery operations.
